Hello mates, welcome to the 4th epic edition of Shreyafied Saturdays, and this marks one month of my newsletter journey, thanks to everyone who chose to subscribe to my newsletter, and special thanks to those whom I added to my subscribers even without their permission. I hope you have finished all the Diwali Soan papadis that you got!

In this newsletter series, I talk about all I’ve learned in the past week, things I’ve created, and ideas that may help you improve.

Got my first client!

JN Brands Finally got started with me managing my first client, and who is that? Well, let that be a secret but let me tell you I got myself to learn video editing because now I have to edit videos professionally and not how I used to do my videos!

NEW things + Excitement = 2x Energy!

I am finally feeling like I am doing something and thus I missed out on posting content on JN Brands Start Page, Twitter, and LinkedIn for 2 entire days, which I feel is a sin when you are crazy to build a personal brand.

Though I feel like giving myself a bit of liberty to prioritize the stuff that is not consuming my energy but is providing, and that is the newer stuff!

So the newer stuff is that I started experimenting with a different category of videos we encounter on YouTube. The link to my channel is @shreyaporwal. Don’t tell me you don’t know YouTube just introduced handles, do you? So handle is a unique id that belongs to you and only you. Just like we have on Twitter and a few other platforms, it’ll be used to tag/mention your Youtuber-friends. If you haven’t chosen yours yet just follow this link and get it: youtube.com/handle

Did I tell you about the presentation?

In my last issue, I jokingly said about giving presentations and my college got a week-long workshop for us to learn how to give an effective presentation, how helpful of them! And that didn’t just help me review my approach to my potential customers but also helped me ask better questions, and that’s a boon!

I am a Story-Person…

If you teach me a really important thing that is necessary for me to learn, I may still sleep in the mid of the conversation but if you tell me an interesting story I have all my ears for you!

Over this long period of school life and learning, I do not remember the geographical terrain I was told about or the formulas I was taught or the General Knowledge I was given, or the stuff about politics I read but I remember every single story that I heard till now from Dhruv, Mayur Dhwaja, Prahlaad to khilone wala, Ram Prasad Bismil, Yashodhara, Bhaktin, etc. The story makes the first step, which is the introduction, easier.

And that is another reason I want people to start personal branding with me, for anyone to know you, trust you, help you, or get your help they need to know your story. Tell me why you sometimes choose India-based brands. Like I used to be a fan of Lays but then I switched to Balaji and never changed again. Because at a time Balaji was available when Lays was not. If you can show up all the, you’ll stay relevant! For example, you don’t order every day but Zomato by its email marketing strategy shows up every 2nd day and thus you’ll prevent yourself from switching to swiggy!

I feel that people do not need Zomato or Swiggy, every shop can do what they are doing on a local level and customers would like their services better. And similarly, any cloth retailer can just mail a pic of a new outfit in the collection to all its customers and you’ll stay relevant for them and they’ll choose to revisit your shop whenever they plan to shop. There are a few ways to learn anything, namely:

  1. reading/watching
  2. speaking/singing
  3. experiencing/performing

You can make them memorize your name through the first one. And I am Sorry, enough of marketing stuff now.

I am not doing much…

  1. Just completed reading As Man Thinketh and started What to Say When You Talk to Yourself but still have many books in my bucket, so I am feeling overwhelmed!
  2. So much saved to Instapaper, again overwhelmed!
  3. Also, have some amazing movies in my bucket, again overwhelmed!
  4. Thinking to start food vlogging, muh me paani aaya na? kyun, aaya na? That’s the reason I also want to do it. :((
  5. Again, I am not doing much this week

If you think that maybe someday you’d also start writing newsletters. Start today. I’ll subscribe to the newsletters of the first ten people who decide to write their newsletter after reading mine. Just reply to me/tag me on social with your first newsletter after publishing!
